Crimea (Ukraine) is a land
with an enormous history, home to more than 15 distinct cultures, the art
reflects this diversity and speaks to the conflict and creativity that
continues to define the character of the peninsula. Following the break-up
of the Soviet Union and the resulting opening of long closed borders, The
Association of Crimean Artists was formed to introduce the international
art community to the new generation of Crimean artists and to support their
future growth. We welcome you to our land and hope that you take with you
a part of the beauty that much of the world does not yet know exists.
The Association of Crimean Artists was formed by local patrons to
assist those artists who have arisen following the break-up of the Soviet
Union. Its impetus was the economic hardships that were forcing many artists
away from there mediums and into subsistence forms of employment. The Association
makes no demands of the artists that are represented by local galleries
and agents. Its purpose is to offer local artists access to markets that
they by themselves would not have access to and through the resulting income
to support their future development, 10% of all profits are put into a
fund that supports local art schools in the purchase of materials.
